Believe and Receive the Word
The word of the Lord came to Jahaziel the prophet and he speaks to the king and all Judah.
2 Chronicles 20 (NKJV)
15 And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.
17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.”
When the children of Israel were at the edge of the Red Sea, God said the same thing, “Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.” You have to see yourself delivered before your deliverance manifests; you have to see the bills paid before they get paid; you have to see yourself healed in body before it happens.
In hundreds of places the Bible exhorts us to “fear not”, to “not be dismayed, neither be discouraged”. Nowhere are we told to be full of fear, to be scared, sad or mad! It’s very easy to be discouraged, all you have to do is look around you, and see and hear what’s going on in the world. We don’t look at those things, we look to God for our salvation and provision.
When I was a kid, there were bullies in the neighbourhood, and like everyone else, I was scared of them. But whenever I was walking with my parents, I could walk straight up to any bully and talk to him anyway I wanted. Where did I get that boldness from all of a sudden? I had my parents with me, of course. In just the same way, God has said that He is with us, He is in us, and He is for us – all three at the same time! Any way you want to look at it, we have it made! Go out against the circumstances, walk right up in the devil’s face and tell him to wait and see the miracle Jesus is going to do for you today! That’s the way we should walk and talk. Why? Because we believe what God has said.
