D. God Is Faithful – He Is Infinitely, Unchangingly True
Deuteronomy 7 (NKJV)
9 Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
2 Timothy 2 (NKJV)
13 If we are faithless,
He remains faithful…;
He cannot deny Himself.
God’s attributes are not isolated traits but interconnected parts of His perfect, whole being. His faithfulness cannot be understood apart from His immutability, the fact that He never changes. So, when we read that God remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself, we see these attributes working together. The fact that He is unchanging means He cannot be anything else but being faithful and because He is infinitely, unchangingly faithful means that He never forgets anything, never fails to do anything He has set out to do, never changes His mind or takes back a promise. God is so faithful that even when we fail, He looks for ways to manifest his own faithfulness just because it’s His nature.
E. God Is Good – He Is Infinitely, Unchangingly Kind and Full of Good Will
Psalms 34 (NKJV)
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;…
Just like His other attributes, God’s goodness is also part of His immutability, and infinite nature, so that He is always good. His mercy flows from His goodness._
James 1 (AMP)
_17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].*
God is the epitome of good and His kingdom is resplendent with it. That is why it was a hallmark of Christ’s earthly ministry.
Acts 10 (NKJV)
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
So also, ‘doing good’ must be a hallmark of believers.
F. God Is Love – He is the Source and Definition of Unconditional Love.
1 John 4 (NKJV)
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
1 Corinthians 13 (AMP)
1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction].
2 And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing.
3 If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all.
4 Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant.
5 It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured.
6 It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail].
7 Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.
John 13 (NKJV)
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.
The God kind of love is a distinguishing character of His kingdom and of the believer.
