Throughout the book of Deuteronomy, God instructed Israel to study His word, understand it, practice it and teach it, then they would have a prosperous life.
Deuteronomy 8 (NKJV)
1 “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers.
They had to do something in order to experience the blessings of God. The blessings would not come automatically just because they were the seed of Abraham.
That promised land of Canaan represented all the blessings that you and I want to receive today – healing; prosperity; a peaceful, loving home; children who are serving the Lord; etc. Nothing was guaranteed to them just because they were God’s covenant people. Neither is anything guaranteed to you today, just because you are saved.
