No Automatic Blessings
Unfortunately, many Christians believe so much in the power of generational curses, that they seem to have more confidence in them than they have in Jesus! Their faith in Satan is his license to hold them in bondage. You have to check your belief system. What are you believing? If light is stronger than darkness, love is stronger that hate, then blessings should be stronger than curses. If God is stronger that Satan, then why don’t people talk about “generational blessings”? For example, if a man who is the son and grandson of faithful Christians is living a godless, sinful lifestyle, why don’t people say this of him: “Oh, don’t worry about him, he’ll turn out alright. Generational blessings are going to catch up with him, regardless of how he’s living.” No. In order to enjoy God’s blessings, he must personally fulfil the conditions in His word.
Blessings are not in your genes. You don’t impart them biologically to your children. We teach our children the word of God, by our words and by our actions. That is how the blessings will be carried on in a family. When parents read their Bibles, speak the word and live by God’s principles, then their children learn to do that too. If the parents get drunk and fight a lot, then the children will learn the same behaviour – that is simply learned behaviour, not a generational curse as some would like to call it.
