Exercise Your Authority
No matter who or what your parents were or did, thank God that Jesus is now the source of your lineage. Start believing that, and lay hold of your spiritual heritage, not your Adamic heritage. This in no way minimizes the terrible things people experience in life – for example, physical, mental or sexual abuse. But why should what somebody did to you mar you for the rest of your life?
James 5 (NKJV)
16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Our prayers are going to be answered because of the righteousness that we have in Christ. The Amplified Bible renders this verse thus:
James 5 (AMP)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
It’s not the number of people who are praying that make the difference. Elijah for example, was only one man, who prayed on the basis of the limited righteousness he had by the blood of a lamb. He was human just like us. He prayed earnestly for the rain to stop and sealed up the heavens for over three years. Then he prayed for the rain to come and it started to rain again (James 5:17-18).
How much more then can you and I, the righteousness of God in Christ, change the course of our lives, our families, and our world, by exercising our authority over the devil! Satan wants you to look at your natural heritage, your earthly family, rather than your spiritual heritage. He seeks to rob you of your righteousness consciousness, thereby robbing you of your ability to contact heaven and make changes down here on earth.
