2 Timothy 4 (KJ2000)
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

1 Timothy 6 (KJ2000)
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you are also called, and have professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give you charge in the sight of God, who brings all things to life, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That you keep this commandment without spot, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

To fight the good fight of faith, we must understand that we have been made righteous.

2 Corinthians 5
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
21 For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Jesus bore your sins. In His sacrifice for humanity, he paid the awful penalty for every wrong thought, wrong word and wrong action of every human being, past, present and future. He shed His precious blood, so that you would not need to pay for your sins.

More than that, you were recreated and given a new nature. Your nature is no longer the one you inherited from Adam. Now you belong to a new race of men.

Understanding this will make you bold in exercising faith in God. There is something about knowing that you have been declared righteous that will make you bold in the face of sin, sickness and lack.

Romans 3
21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

We are justified freely by God’s grace. We have received the righteousness of God as a nature.

Romans 10
10 For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

You believed unto righteousness. You believed and you were declared righteous on the basis of Christ’s sacrifice. God will never look at your works and your lifestyle and give you anything or reward you based on that. If you’ll receive anything from God, it’ll be on the basis of Christ’s good work.

Meditate on this. Think deeply about this truth. Praise God because you are the righteousness of God in Christ. Feed on this truth until it becomes real to you. When it does, you will find it so straightforward to exercise your faith.

Continue in grace!
